Women who are vitamin D deficient can lose as much as 3% to 4% of their skeletal mass per year. Vitamin D is critically important for the maintenance of bone health throughout life. Vitamin D is also very important for women’s bone health and to maximize the utilization of dietary calcium studies have been reported to suggest that the blood level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D should be greater than 30 ng/ml.
